(Editor: Yang Meiping)Shanghai Polytechnic University graduates had a special “commencement” on Monday as an exhibition kicked off at its campus on downtown Weihai Road to showcase their graduation projects.

The exhibition, which will run through July 7, includes 30 outstanding designs by students in five majors ranging from product design to environment design and digital media art.

Among them are three intelligent robots for hotel services.

Li Kewen said the robots were designed based on the requirements of a Vietnamese hotel.

The three machines can, respectively, provide reception and restaurant services and transport luggage.

The project was finished by students from three majors. Those majoring in product design provided creative ideas, engineering majors were responsible for developing these ideas and making the machines, while those majoring in economics and hotel management were responsible for their practical application to help improve the products.
